About The Farm

Oro Verde is a family-run coffee farm located in Pedregal, in the Colombian department of Cauca. Founded in 2020, the farm covers approximately 1.5 hectares, with around one hectare dedicated to coffee cultivation at elevations between 1,850 and 1,990 metres above sea level.

The farm is managed by Carlos Arbey Medina, a coffee producer who also works as a professional cupper in a coffee quality laboratory. This combination of practical farming experience and sensory expertise allows him to evaluate his coffee directly and apply a strong quality-focused approach throughout production.

Oro Verde cultivates Arabica coffee of the Bourbon variety. The cherries are carefully selected by hand and processed using a semi-washed method with traditional fermentation. The coffee grows under partial shade, and the main harvest takes place in June.

With an annual production of approximately 1,200 kilograms, the farm focuses on small, carefully produced microlots of fewer than five bags. Its coffees achieve cupping scores of around 85 points and are generally available directly at origin.

As a small family business, Oro Verde combines high-altitude cultivation, careful harvesting and sensory knowledge to produce distinctive coffees with a clear connection to their place of origin.

For Carlos, it is especially important that more people discover and appreciate the coffees of Cauca. Through Oro Verde, he aims to give greater visibility to the quality, diversity and character of coffee produced in this region of Colombia.
